Maine Revenue Services Extends Corporate Filing Deadline to November 16, 2020

October 2020

In response to COVID-19 related corporate tax changes at the federal level, Maine Revenue Services (MRS) has automatically extended the filing deadline for corporate taxpayers in Maine, on extension, from October 15, 2020 to November 16, 2020.

Any 2019 Maine Form 1120ME (Corporate Income Tax Return) or 2019 Maine Form 1120B-ME (Franchise Tax Return) that was otherwise due on extension by October 15, 2020 may now be filed by November 16, 2020. Accordingly, late filing penalties will be abated for such returns that are filed by November 16, 2020. However, if applicable, other associated penalties (e.g. underpayment penalty) and interest will continue to accrue.

This automatic extension of the aforementioned forms is in response to COVID-19 and effective immediately; deadlines for forms not listed above and/or deadlines for these forms in subsequent years are not affected.
