South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster (R) released his fiscal 2022 budget, which again calls for the elimination of all state income taxes on the retirement pay of military veterans, first responders, law enforcement officers, firefighters, and peace officers; the budget also calls for $123 million in funds for COVID-19 relief grants for small businesses to be administered by the state Department of Commerce in the same way as funds from the federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act.
