Proposed Trigger in GOP Senate Bill ‘Deeply Flawed,’ CBPP Says

The proposed trigger mechanism, which GOP senators are considering adding to the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act and which would raise taxes in 2022 if the bill does not produce specific economic benefits, “is deeply flawed and cannot undo the harmful fiscal impact of the bill’s unfinanced tax cuts,” the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities said in a November 29 report.
