Maryland Policy Group Calls for Tax Revenue Reform
SUMMARY BY TAX ANALYSTS
The Maryland Center on Economic Policy released a policy brief calling for the state to pass a “fair tax plan” that would raise $1.4 billion in new revenue in the 2021-2022 budget year, reduce budget deficits, protect jobs, and shift the tax burden away from low-income families; the proposed reform would also address wealth and racial inequalities that have worsened during the COVID-19 pandemic.
