New Hampshire Revenue Department: No Tax Filing, Payment Extension

Dated Mar. 30, 2021

SUMMARY BY TAX ANALYSTS

The New Hampshire Department of Revenue Administration has advised taxpayers that the deadline for filing and paying 2020 taxes is still April 15; the agency is focusing on assisting taxpayers in making use of one of the various options already available for those in need of more time to file their returns.

Announcements and Notices

After much consideration and review, the tax deadline for the State of New Hampshire will remain April 15, 2021. We feel any extension to the April 15, 2021 due date, even by one month, risks causing confusion and does not offer meaningful relief to taxpayers who will still need to complete their 2020 tax return in order to calculate the estimated tax payment that continues to be due on April 15, 2021. Instead, the NHDRA will focus on offering taxpayers excellent customer service and assisting them in taking advantage of the several existing options for New Hampshire taxpayers that need additional time to file their returns.
