2020 Amendment to
the 2002 Free Online Electronic Tax Filing Agreement as Amended
This amendment (the "Amendment") is made by the Internal Revenue Service ("IRS") and Free File Inc. ("FFI") to the Free Online Electronic Tax Filing Agreement, dated October 30, 2002, and published on November 4, 2002, in the Federal Register at 67 Fed. Reg. 67249 (the "2002 Original Agreement"), as amended.
Whereas the IRS and FFI (then known as Free File Alliance, LLC) entered into the 2002 Original Agreement, with an initial term of three years ended October 30, 2005, under which agreement industry members of FFI would offer online tax preparation and filing services, free of charge, to taxpayers;
Whereas the IRS and FFI, by mutual consent, amended the 2002 Original Agreement and extended its term by a period of four years ended October 30, 2009;
Whereas the IRS and FFI, by mutual consent, further amended the 2002 Original Agreement, as amended, and extended its term by a period of five years ended October 30, 2014;
Whereas the IRS and FFI, by mutual consent, further amended the 2002 Original Agreement, as amended, and extended its term by one year ended October 30, 2015;
Whereas the IRS and FFI, by mutual consent, further amended the 2002 Original Agreement, as amended, and extended its term by a period of five years ended October 31, 2020; and
Whereas, on October 31, 2018, the IRS and FFI, by mutual consent, further amended the 2002 Original Agreement, as amended, and extended its term by an additional year ending on October 31, 2021;
Now therefore the IRS and FFI hereby mutually agree to extend the term of the 2002 Original Agreement, as amended, by one year ending on October 31, 2022.
Except as set forth in this Amendment, the 2002 Original Agreement, as amended, remains in full force and effect in accordance with its terms.
