Unemployment Compensation Could Generate $78 Billion in Tax Revenue

The Tax Foundation released a paper demonstrating that unemployment compensation payments distributed since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic could generate up to $78 billion in tax revenue — including $13 billion in state tax revenue — and warning that many recipients may not yet realize the tax consequences of the distributions they have received.
