The filing deadline for Virginia individual income taxes is just around the corner — Friday, May 1, 2020. If you won't be able to file by the deadline, don't worry. Everyone has an automatic 6-month extension.
In addition, thanks to the state's tax relief actions to address COVID-19, you also have an extra month to pay your taxes this year. You need to pay by June 1, 2020 to avoid any penalties. Interest still accrues starting May 1, so if you can pay earlier, you should. (Note: Interest is required by law, so we're not able to waive it.)
To find out what your payment options are, see Extension Payment Options (/individual-income-tax-payment-options#blocktabs-individual_income_tax_payment_options-2).
