Virginia Tax Commissioner Removes Several Taxable Sales From Department Store Owner's Audit

The Virginia tax commissioner reviewed an audit protest made by the operator of a retail department store, and lowered the taxpayer's use tax liability by removing items representing returned goods and separately stated alteration charges from their audit after the taxpayer presented evidence sufficient to carry the burden of proof.
