Washington, DC -- Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus (D-Mont.) will convene a tax reform hearing on Thursday to discuss tax incentives for home ownership. The hearing, titled "Tax Reform Options: Incentives for Homeownership," will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 6 in Room 215 of the Dirksen Senate Office Building. This hearing is the latest in a set of hearings being held this fall to examine various segments of the economy and tax code.
The hearing will consider ways to ensure homeownership incentives are operating most efficiently and whether taxpayers are getting the best possible bang for the buck. These incentives include the mortgage interest deduction, the deduction for state and local real property taxes and the exclusion of capital gain upon the sale of a principal residence.
Witnesses at Thursday's hearing will be announced at a later date.
