WASHINGTON -- Senate Finance Committee Chairman Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) today announced a committee markup of Trade Promotion Authority (TPA) legislation, S. 995, The Bipartisan Congressional Trade Priorities and Accountability Act of 2015, and a number of additional trade bills. Hatch worked along with Ranking Member Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) and members of the committee to develop the list of trade legislation that will be marked up on Wednesday, April 22, 2015, at 10:45 a.m. in G-50 Dirksen Senate Office Building.
"This is markup will give members of the committee the opportunity to consider bipartisan TPA legislation that will help deliver high-quality trade deals, as well as a number of other bills that will help improve our economy by lowering trade barriers for American exports in markets around the world," Hatch said. "With this markup, I look forward to continuing the committee's bipartisan efforts to move America's trade priorities through the Congress."
The following bills will be considered at the markup:
An Original Bill Relating to Extension of the trade adjustment assistance program, and amending the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to extend and modify the credit for health insurance costs of certain eligible individuals, and for other purposes.
An Original Bill to extend the African Growth and Opportunity Act, the Generalized System of Preferences, the preferential duty treatment program for Haiti, and for other purposes.
An Original bill to reauthorize trade facilitation and trade enforcement functions and activities, and for other purposes.
