IRS OVERSIGHT BOARD
September 29, 2000
[1] The IRS Oversight Board met for the first time today to be sworn in and to take part in informational briefings on the operations of the IRS and the budget process. The Board elected Larry R. Levitan, retired Anderson Consulting senior partner, as its Chairman and scheduled its next meeting to be held November 14 in Atlanta, Georgia.
[2] The Board has responsibility for reviewing the budget and strategy of the IRS. In addition, it has established three subcommittees,
o Modernization
o Personnel and Organization
o Performance Management
[3] The other members of the Board include Treasury Secretary Lawrence H. Summers, IRS Commissioner Charles Rossotti, George L. Farr, Nancy Killefer, Charles Kolbe, Steve Nickles, Robert M. Tobias, and Karen Hastie Williams,
