Subject: Peggy Sherry to leave IRS

Today, I want to share with you that Peggy Sherry, our Deputy Commissioner for Operations Support, has decided to leave the IRS later this month to take a position at another federal agency, the National Credit Union Administration. While we look for a permanent successor, AWSS Chief Stuart Burns has agreed to act in the top Operations Support position.

Peggy brought a strong background to the IRS when she joined in October 2013, and her management skills and insight have been an important part of our leadership team.

Her work here has touched on many different areas of Operations Support, overseeing efforts on the budget, IT, procurement, human capital and privacy issues. During the past year, Peggy has helped guide Operations Support through many important topics, including IT's continued progress on new and existing programs, CFO's careful stewardship of our agency's budget, HCO's important employee recognition and development programs, PGLD's safeguarding work and AWSS's facilities and procurement efforts.

Peggy also brought important insights from her long and distinguished career. Before joining the IRS, she was at the Department of Homeland Security, where she served as the Chief Financial Officer, Acting CFO and Deputy CFO from 2008 to 2012. Peggy also worked as Deputy CFO and Financial Reports Supervisor for the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum from 2001 through 2007. Prior to that, she served as an Assistant Director at the GAO from 1991 through 2000.

I also want to thank Peggy for her support and friendship during my first year here. Please join me in congratulating Peggy for her service and wishing her well in her next endeavor.
