Congressman Thomas M. Reynolds (R-NY) -- sponsor of the "Stealth Tax Relief Act" (H.R. 4096), the House's middle-class AMT relief legislation -- issued the following statement on the President's FY2007 Budget released today that includes similar relief from the Alternative Minimum Tax:
"Last year, the House resoundingly passed my "Stealth Tax Relief Act", 414-4. I am pleased the President recognized the strong, bi- partisan support for my legislation, and has included similar relief in his budget. While this is an important step, I am still looking forward to working with my House and Senate colleagues to finish the work the House started last year. We must extend relief from this stealth tax to avoid raising taxes on millions of unsuspecting, middle-class Americans."
