Dear Cindy,
As you know, all tax reform bills in the House of Representatives must go through the Ways and Means Committee. That's why I am so pleased to share with you that I understand the FairTax will receive a vote -- for the first time in history -- in the Ways and Means Committee when it considers a fundamental tax reform bill this Congress! I know the pace of the legislative process can be frustrating at times, but be encouraged by this development because it is no small feat.
Though a cause for celebration, this news is also a reminder of how much work we have left to do. While the effort to build support continues in the House, we must ensure that our message of economic freedom is heard in the Senate as well. As you can imagine, there are loud and powerful voices defending the status quo in the upper chamber. However, I am confident that our nationwide network of FairTax activists can win the battle for hearts and minds on both sides of the Capitol.
Please relay my heartfelt thanks to our dedicated grassroots leaders who have helped move the FairTax further along than it's ever been, and know that I stand ready and willing to fight alongside the FairTax nation in the critical battles ahead.
