Baucus Hires New Policy Analyst for EO Issues

Washington, DC -- U.S. Senator Max Baucus (D-Mont.), Chairman of the Senate Finance Committee, today announced that he has hired Kristin Bailey as a Policy Analyst to oversee policy relating to tax-exempt organizations. Bailey comes to the Committee after working for nearly three years in Senator Baucus's personal office as Legislative Assistant for Ethics and Campaign Finance Reform and Assistant to the Chief of Staff.

"Kristin has always been a great asset to my staff and I know she will be an asset to the Committee in her important role ensuring that tax-exempt organizations fulfill the important obligations that status requires," said Baucus. "Kristin's work on the Committee will allow us to build stronger relationships with the charities and foundations that are working hard to meet vital community needs in Montanaand across the country."

In her position as Legislative Assistant, Bailey worked on the development of the Faith Community Impact Summit, which facilitated connections between nonprofits, charities and faith communities to address poverty, community development and rural challenges. The Summittook place in Billings, Montana, in September 2006, and was attended by more than 300 faith and non-profit organizations from across Montanaand more than 20 national foundations. On the Committee, Bailey's work will focus on issues related to charities, nonprofit organizations, and foundations. She will also coordinate efforts to bring more attention and funding to poverty in rural areas as part of her work on Senator Baucus's rural philanthropy initiative.

Bailey grew up on a wheat farm near Fort Benton, Montana. She graduated from WestmontCollegein Santa Barbara, CA, in 2004 with a B.A. in International Studies and a minor in mathematics.
