Business Coalition Expresses Support for Senate Tax Extenders Package

The undersigned companies are writing in support of the tax extenders package proposed by Senators Baucus, Snowe and Lincoln during debate on the Small Business lending bill (H.R. 5297). The Baucus-Snowe-Lincoln proposal reflects a compromise that addresses a number of issues raised by earlier versions of the extenders legislation.

The expired provisions are critically important to a wide range of American businesses (small and large), charities and individuals. Their renewal will encourage significant economic activity. Failure to renew these provisions will result in reduced economic activity, loss of American jobs and continued financial uncertainty.

We are aware that proposals recently have been advanced to use the international offsets in this package for purposes other than the tax extenders legislation. These offsets were developed specifically for use in connection with the tax extenders, and we cannot support their adoption otherwise.

We support the Baucus-Snowe-Lincoln tax extenders package. We urge your leadership in achieving its passage at the first opportunity.
