The ABA's Section of Taxation focuses on providing educational services to its members and enhancing the development and administration of the tax law. The Section's work supports the integrity of the nation's voluntary system for tax reporting and payment. As a council director, Ms. Arnold will oversee the Section's international tax committees, which are responsible for the development of comments to the IRS on current issues in international taxation, and for providing education on the matters for the tax bar.
Ms. Arnold has been actively involved with the ABA for over 15 years. She has served as chair of the Tax Section's Committee on U.S. Activities of Foreigners and Tax Treaties and its Subcommittee on Withholding Issues and Portfolio Investments.
A leader in a number of other bar and trade organizations, Ms. Arnold is vice president and a member of the executive committee of the U.S. Branch of the International Fiscal Association, president of the Philadelphia Tax Conference, and a member of the executive committee of the George Washington University Law School/IRS Annual International Tax Institute.
Ms. Arnold is immediate past chair of the Philadelphia Bar Association's Tax Section, and a former instructor in the Graduate Tax Program at Villanova University School of Law, where she taught for 23 years. She is a frequent speaker at tax conferences.
