News from the Iowa Department of Revenue — Appeals Operations

Wednesday — 03/18/2020

Des Moines, Iowa — As we focus on protecting the health of staff and all taxpayers during the COVID-19 emergency, the Iowa Department of Revenue's Hearings Office and the Legal Services and Appeals Division will remain open. All Legal Services and Appeals staff are working, though most of our staff are operating remotely at this time.

While we are continuing to work on pending appeals, reduced staff in the office may impact response times to correspondence and phone calls.

Notifications, including motions, orders, and other correspondence continue to be issued at this time. Staff have remote system access that will allow them to continue to monitor their own staff email addresses as well as the general email address, idrhearings@iowa.gov. If you have questions about your case, you are encouraged to email idrhearings@iowa.gov.

Any in-person hearings scheduled with either an Administrative Law Judge or the Director from March 16, 2020 through April 16, 2020 will be changed to telephonic hearings or continued to a later date.
