New York Comptroller Releases Second-Quarter 2020 Local Sales Tax Report

SUMMARY BY TAX ANALYSTS

The New York state comptroller published a report finding that local sales tax collections totaled $3.3 billion in the second quarter of 2020, a decrease of 27.1 percent from the same period in 2019, and total collections for June were down 25.4 percent from June of last year, although many counties saw year-over-year increases for the month; the declines are attributable to COVID-19.

The comptroller also issued a press release summarizing the major findings of the report.
