U.S. House Committee Urged to Clarify That Captive Insurers Are Not Subject to Federal Act

In a December 18, 2012, letter to U.S. House Financial Services Committee chair Jeb Hensarling, R-Texas, Rep. Judy Biggert, R-Ill., suggested a technical amendment to "reinforce the Congressional intent" of the Nonadmitted and Reinsurance Reform Act, because some states have incorrectly misinterpreted the bill to include captive insurers.
