Illinois Releases Guidance on Tax Filing, Payment Extension

The Illinois Department of Revenue released an informational bulletin providing guidance on the recently extended state individual income tax filing and payment deadline, noting that penalties and interest will begin to accrue on any remaining unpaid balances as of May 18; the DOR also announced that it plans to issue guidance on the tax treatment of unemployment compensation in light of the recently enacted federal American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 (P.L. 117-2).
