Management Team

  • President and CEO
    Cara Grifith

    Cara provides strategic oversight for the direction of Tax Analysts. She has been instrumental in developing strategies to improve the Tax Notes suite of products and to aggressively pursue transparency in the administration of tax systems. Previously, Cara managed the editorial department, including the flagship daily news publications and weekly magazines. Griffith has written for a broad range of tax policy publications, including Tax Notes State, The Tax Adviser, The Hedge Fund Law Report, and The Hill. She regularly speaks at tax conferences and other events on tax issues, on a variety of technical tax issues as well as the need for transparency in tax administration. Griffith has a BA in political science and a BA in international studies from the University of Evansville and a JD from the George Washington University Law School.

  • Chief Content Officer
    Jeremy Scott

    Jeremy provides strategic guidance for the editorial department, which includes managing the daily news publications Tax Notes Today Federal, Tax Notes Today State and Tax Notes Today International, and weekly magazines Tax Notes Federal, Tax Notes State, and Tax Notes International. Jeremy was Tax Analysts’ executive editor for commentary and analysis from 2014 to 2017, and the editor of Tax Notes Federal from 2010 to 2014. He has been a moderator at Tax Analysts’ and other conferences, and he is an expert on tax policy and corporate tax issues. Before joining the staff of Tax Analysts in 2008, Jeremy practiced law with Silverman & Associates Chtd. He is a member of the Virginia and District of Columbia bars and has an LLM in taxation from Georgetown Law Center.

  • Chief Technology Officer
    Michael Berkeley

    Michael is responsible for planning, selection, and operation of all internal and customer-facing technology for Tax Analysts. He has over 25 years of experience managing IT operations and the development of technology solutions in a wide variety of organizations. Previously, Michael was the chief information officer for ASCD, a nonprofit education publisher and membership association; prior to that he worked in information systems consulting across a variety of industries. He has an MBA from the University of Arizona's Eller College of Management.

  • Chief Financial Officer
    John Ring

    John directs all of Tax Analysts’ financial activities, including the preparation of financial reports and forecasting of business growth. John worked for more than 20 years as the CFO of a major nonprofit and 15 years as a senior manager in the audit and consulting divisions of a Big Four firm. He served on the American Institute of CPAs’ Not-for-Profit Expert Panel from 2007 to 2009. He is both a certified public accountant and a chartered global management accountant. John received his BS in business administration from George Mason University.

  • Chief Human Resources
    Dara Conroy

    Dara leads all Human Resources initiatives, including the creation and maintenance of benefits packages, training and development efforts, and the personnel hiring and evaluation processes. She brings over 20 years of experience in HR management to Tax Analysts. Dara is skilled in mediation, compliance, recruitment, and strategic planning, and enjoys not only the tactical and strategic role of HR but also employee interaction. She has served as a vice president of human resources for several government contractors in the Washington area. Dara has a bachelor's in marketing from Merrimack College and a Professional in Human Resources certification. She is an active member of the Society for Human Resource Management, whose international special interest group she co-chaired for two years.

  • Vice President of Sales & Client Services
    Peter Billingsley

    Peter is Vice President of Sales & Client Services at Tax Analysts, and has been with the organization since 2005. In his current role Peter leads all client-facing efforts including sales, customer service, and training. He is responsible for managing, guiding, and developing sales strategy for the Tax Notes product portfolio. Prior to becoming a vice president Peter worked for Tax Analysts as a senior account executive, in business development, and as an account manager.

    Peter is happily married and enjoys spending time with his two sons, budding athletes Parker and Calvin. Peter received his bachelor’s in criminology from the University of Maryland.

  • Vice President of Marketing
    Stephen Roberts

    Stephen leads the strategic marketing direction for Tax Analysts. He has over 20 years’ experience developing and executing marketing and communications initiatives driving sales, raising brand awareness, and increasing profitability. Previously Stephen worked for a Fortune 100 financial services corporation where he was responsible for outbound acquisition channels for their US credit card portfolio. Prior to that, he worked for a global organization managing branding and direct response marketing efforts for the Americas. Stephen received his BA in graphic design from West Virginia University and is an avid Mountaineer sports fan.
